Squarespace and Square are two different companies. They both support online stores, so it can be confusing when you are doing research about getting your business online. Squarespace is my favorite website builder, so this blog post will explain how it’s different from the company called Square.

My 10 favorite text tips for Squarespace (and other) websites
Here are my 10 favorite text tips to help you create a modern and professional-looking website on Squarespace or any other website platform.
Improving SEO for your Squarespace website images
Images play a role in improving your website's search rankings. Using file names and image properties strategically on your Squarespace website to include possible search words is a good practice for improving the search rankings of your website.
Finding your website’s perfect type
One of the first decisions you'll make with a new website is the choice of typefaces, especially those used as display accents throughout your site, such as the Site Title and Headings. Your website probably includes typefaces that suit the design template you chose, but if you would prefer another typeface, there are many to choose from.
Spacers: Your Squarespace website's invisible super power
Spacers are invisible design elements that add blank space to any part of a website page. I call them a website super power because they are incredibly useful for adding space around elements on a page.
Is your website responsive to smaller mobile phone screens?
With so many people looking for information on their smartphones, it's critical that your website employs a responsive design. A website that has a "responsive design" responds to the screen size of the reader’s device and narrows or widens pages so information fits the width of the device. Before you consider a website page ready to publish, check the page with the Mobile preview feature so you can see the page as a cell phone user will see it.
What’s a branded email address (and do you need one)?
A branded email address has your domain name after the @ sign. It’s a good idea to pay for email hosting services that use your domain name. It looks more professional and is less likely to be seen as spam.
Four tricks for getting the most out of Squarespace Chat Support
I've found Squarespace Support very helpful over the years. I contact them for both technical questions and advice. I learned early on that it is much faster to get their focused expertise to get over a hurdle or to avoid prolonged research. Being prepared to get the most out of your Live Chat helps you get the answers you need quickly.
Going bananas over MailChimp
I used the free version of MailChimp for several years and found it easy to use. I now use MailerLite because it allows a Welcome letter automation sequence that MailChimp no longer offers on the free plan. Still MailChimp is a good choice for small-business owners who want to add a newsletter to their site without the monthly cost of an email marketing plan if they only need to send new subscribers a single Welcome letter.
